Most of us would be totally unprepared for our next steps if our doctor tells us, \u201cYou have cancer.\u201d That diagnosis is perhaps the most dreaded phrase in all of healthcare. After the initial shock of the announcement, we may be caught wondering what comes next. Should I get a second opinion? What are my options for treatment? Can I survive? Are my personal affairs in order? How can I get the answers I need in my current state of affairs?<\/p>\n

I\u2019m proud to announce the Grange can now provide a guide and much of the information for new patients battling cancer. With a grant from Bristol Myers Squibb, the National Grange and its project partner RetireSafe have developed a step-by-step instructional guide complete with documents and forms which can help the patient navigate the months following the diagnosis.<\/p>\n

Take advantage of this valuable information along with sample event posters and a news release. We encourage you to reach out and share this easy-to-use presentation at your upcoming events and meetings. We are also sending this package to our 1,500 local Granges around the country so they can easily engage their Grange members and local communities by planning events to spread this information as widely as possible.<\/p>\n

We are depending on you as State Grange President to urge your local Granges to utilize this program as a community service to benefit the residents of their communities. This is an excellent presentation that can provide peace of mind to many in their time of need and show the Grange as a vital organization. Thank you in advance for your assistance in addressing this need for rural residents who have recently been diagnosed with cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
