Pair make a bald statement for charity
A pair of friends made a bald statement when they shaved their heads for charity.
Charlotte Akroyd and Claire Ivinson-Beveridge, of Heaton Grange, Hanging Heaton, shaved their hair off to raise money for Cancer Research UK at an event at the Woodman pub.
The pair, who have known each other for a couple of years, organized a fundraising extravaganza on Saturday November 2, which included a raffle, DJ and karaoke.
Charlotte, a team leader at furniture company HSL, said: “Both Claire and I know people affected by cancer.
“We thought shaving our heads would shock people. People jump from planes, we shaved our heads.
“Our target was £2,000 and we have more or less reached it.”
