National Grange issued a statement lauding Congressional moves to close the digital divide

On Tuesday, May 19, the National Grange issued a statement lauding Congressional moves to close the digital divide.

National Grange President Betsy Huber said,

Rural communities and agricultural producers are struggling to overcome the economic challenges associated with COVID-19 – hardships made worse by gaps in reliable internet access. The National Grange applauds members of the House and Senate for bringing attention to the importance of accelerating broadband deployment and expanding digital opportunities to unserved Americans in the series of hearings held this week and last.”

Huber also noted that rural communities cannot wait.

“The time is now. Congress must take immediate legislative action to make universal broadband a reality for rural and underserved communities across the country.”
