Grange notes concern over proposed drug importation working group
The National Grange issued the following statement in response to the planned formation of a HHS working group to examine prescription drug importation:
“Rural America understands all too well the problems that arise when unregulated prescription drugs are allowed into our country. The stated inability of officials to verify the efficacy and safety of imported medicines should raise a red flag for anyone concerned about the well-being of patients and communities. Opening our supply chain to potentially contaminated or counterfeit drugs from foreign countries puts already vulnerable individuals at risk, while potentially exposing new populations to these hazards. There are better policies that accomplish the same goals without trading away safety.”
