National Grange Applauds Senate Committee’s Bipartisan Vote in Favor of USMCA Trade Deal
Statement released on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020 by National Grange President Betsy Huber:
The National Grange applauds the Senate Finance Committee for its bipartisan vote in favor of passage of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement. This move helps America’s farmers and ranchers, and the communities that depend on their prosperity. Trade is a vital element of the success of America’s agriculture sector, a gleaming spot in our nation’s finances that with pacts like this greatly improves our economy.
This agreement helps solidify trade relationships with our neighbors who buy more made-in-America goods than any other market. Every sector of American agriculture benefits from this agreement, but especially the hard-hurting dairy industry as well as the poultry producers through new market access, and the wheat market as American wheat will be graded more favorably by Canada.
The National Grange is looking forward to the swift passage of this agreement by the full Senate with a continued bipartisan approach.
