National Grange partners with U.S. Census, Comcast on PSA
The National Grange understand the importance of an accurate census count for rural communities.
More than $30 billion each year is provided by the federal government to rural communities based on census data.
Those funds provide critical dollars for small-town America. From money to purchase public safety equipment such as fire apparatus to operating capital for agricultural research stations, every rural community benefits from census data that is complete and accurate.
Starting in April, during Grange Month, a public service announcement created by the National Grange, will appear on televisions and devices using Comcast service and will be widely shared online as part of a campaign to encourage individuals to complete the 2020 decennial census.
The first round of 2020 Census is available now, online, and can be completed in 10 minutes or less. Every household should have received a letter in mid-March that included a unique identifier code that can be used to log in and complete the simple survey.
For those without internet access or who would prefer to do their census by phone, a phone number is provided and you can use the unique identifier code to complete the questions by phone.
If you do neither, you will receive a census form by mail.
Finally, census workers may come to your door to gather information if you do not fill out your form online or by mail or response by phone, but the timeline for such work is unclear based on the continuing COVID crisis.
Because of the crisis, we urge everyone to complete their census as soon as possible in a way that helps everyone stay safe and continue to practice social distancing.
