Seed Libraries

A seed library allows community members to borrow seeds for gardening, encouraging self-sufficiency and biodiversity. Participants grow their own food, save seeds from their harvest, and return them to the library for others to use. This initiative supports local food security by fostering sustainable gardening practices, especially in communities where access to quality seeds might be limited.

Resources Required:

Granges will need a dedicated storage space for seeds, such as cabinets or containers for organization. Volunteers with gardening experience can assist with seed collection, sorting, and organizing. Granges can partner with local garden clubs, seed companies, or farmers to acquire seeds. Additionally, educational materials about seed saving and gardening techniques can be provided. If the Grange does not have a physical hall, collaborating with libraries or community centers to house the seed library is an option.
