Sundae Social celebrates Rutherford Grange restoration

An important piece of Americana, Rutherford Grange, will celebrate its rebirth in the Upvalley community on Sunday, Oct. 13.

From 2-5 p.m., the Rutherford Grange Restoration Group is hosting a Sundae Social. Admission is free, no reservations are required and Mariposa Ice Cream Company will provide ice cream. Bring the kids, get an ice cream moustache on your upper lip and maybe learn more about the importance of Grange Halls in our country’s history.

The Rutherford Grange building is ripe with the history of our nation. Following the Civil War, U.S. leaders had difficulties coming to forums that were set in Northern or Southern government seats. Instead, Granges began to spring up across the United States to support farmers and provide a non-partisan meeting place for our country to rebuild.
