Turkey dinner at Kinton Grange is a 60-year tradition

At the Kinton Grange near Beaverton, Thanksgiving isn’t the only time for turkey dinner.

From noon to 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 27, the grange will host its annual all-you-can-eat turkey dinner. That’s correct – limitless amounts of mashed potatoes, dressing and the star of the meal, turkey.

This year, the grange is cooking 60 birds, which is a whole lot of turkey, according to dinner organizer Loretta Flint.

Flint, of Aloha, joined the Kinton Grange in 1986. She says there were close to 500 attendees at her first turkey dinner; by 2012, there were nearly 1,000.

The event is a product of community donations. Flint, 73, acts as the conductor of the turkey-dinner orchestra, gathering donated potatoes from Beaverton’s Hoffman Farms, apples from Oregon Heritage Farms in Hillsboro, and whipped cream from the Washington County Dairywomen’s Association to top the dozens of pies.
